looked so real yet I wasn't being burnt. What a strange sight.
'What's that?' I asked, curious to see the red flames burn.
'That's your mana. The first Shaman had mana run through her like fire and that's the symbol. It shows that you truly do have mana inside you. And now to measure it.' He took a ruler from the desk and placed it above the flames. He drew his hand away and I watched as the ruler was suspended in mid-air above my flaming hands. The flames turned from the red colour to a night blue. It crackled fiercely and Thealosius took many readings, ignoring my curiosity. He took his last reading and then the flames disappeared in a split section and the ruler came crashing down onto my palms.
'Ow!' I cried as Thealosius took the ruler from my hands. As I rubbed them to get rid of the sting, he wrote something up and then looked quite amazed.
'9.2,' he said. 'That's a very high mark. Highest being ten. You're mana is very high.'

'What does that mean?'
'It means that there are going to be some great things expected of you. Your mana level though is too high to stop the shouting instantly. You're going to have to wait until it sinks in naturally.' I glared at him angrily. That's all I seemed to be doing that day. 'That's what we have to do. There's nothing else to try. But, because you have such a high mana level you'll be able to perform difficult spells easily. You will be a very strong Shaman indeed. Stronger than the previous ones. You are the gifted and chosen one.' I looked at him puzzled but he didn't explain anything. 'That's all for today. I'll see you tomorrow for some history.'
   He showed me out and I kept quiet, even though there were many questions building up inside me at this minute, bubbling madly at the top of my head. What did he mean that I was gifted? I hadn't really done anything yet. And I was the chosen one? Did that mean that I was the one that was going to become a god. I pinched myself hard - it hurt which meant that
