Populous: The Beginning had several tournaments over the years, the God of Gods tournament series being the most highly rated by the community. The tournament series attempted to determine the best Populous: The Beginning players and took place in 2007, 2009, and 2011. However these Populous legends did not fight for the title only in these series. Many tournaments were hosted along the years and many players made a name for themselves among the Populous community. Names like Keith52, Genesis, Nefarius, Sub Zero, Nici, Tsuyoshi, Addiction and many others are known to everyone. No big fan of this game passes without knowing them!

Recently there has been a recession of tournaments hosted by the community, also due to the fact that there was a recession of players in 2013 until the summer of 2014. However it seems that Populous: The Beginning is, once again, getting higher standards and new tournament ideas start being exploited.

We are sure that 2015 will not be a year to forget and that the community is now escalating to the best of times. New players are joining in and attempting the online experience, while the rise in players looking for games using the MatchMaker client is noticeable. Players like Addiction and Fury have stepped in once again and do not forget they are not the only ones.
