'They though he was a threat and killed him. Then they urinated on him while they laughed. Now you see how some things must be changed. But my grandson is something that we cannot change.'
   Tears welled in my eyes. I didn't know if I could continue listening to Porta without thinking of the boy's blank eyes.
'What we can change is the location of your brother though,' she said softly. 'He was captured by the Matak but was taken by one of our allies, the Dakini. They are over the ocean somewhere. But he is alive. There was talk of it a few days ago: they were saying that he is now a head spy for them.'
'My brother? Orkama?' I said faintly.
'But that is not all,' Porta said. I dreaded what was to come. 'He is married. Married to the head of their clan: the Shaman.'
