One of the most known players in the game, ttamylno is known for being of inconsistent skill and rude, but also for having defeated top players several times. He is one of the most active and consistently active players, having played every single month since monthly points started being recorded in September 2006.

Final matches were intense:

The first map was Stormcloud Island, picked by Team 6. It was a great game that ended with all four shamans having only one life each. Eventually Ice-T died by a good double from LGN and Lucas saw himself in a hard position in which he was fighting two shamans alone. By showing off his skills, Lucas was hable to defeat the other two and win the first game for his team.

The second map, “AvA Worlds: The Rising – Team LightMatch”, was chosen by LGN International. Here UnKnown and Vegeta showed a deadly team work, having once again experienced another comfortable victory on that map.

The last played map was chosen by Team 6, since it was predicted to be a best of 5 final. However, after this last game, players agreed to end the final, since there was a bit of discordance about the best of 5 rule. The last map was won by Team 6, this time ending with both shamans alive.

Being one of the few successful two versus two tournaments, we can see changes in the tournament concept in the commnuity. This opens the door for new future tournaments that might take the route of team play events, instead of the usual one on one that has always been the ruler structure for most past tournaments.

Despite evaluating players individualy, the tournament will be focusing on 2v2 game mode and its first stage is expected to start on February 1st, having 3 months duration. This stage is going to work as a league, where in each different week, a different map will be given for players to challenge each other.

Unlike the usual tournaments, Populous Tour 2015 will be exploring more than just the top played maps from Populous “You can expect us to be exploring some of our very own undiscovered worlds from lesser known/popular mappacks. Each week, a specific map will be selected to be played for that entire week. Before you get excited, you should know that this isn’t like any other tournament ever held before here on Populous 3!” (Fireproof, 2015)

The second stage of this tournament will be featuring games between the top players of the league, in order to determine an overall champion. The exact logic behind this stage is not fully known, as it will be ascertained depending on the total number of players that joined the league in the first stage.

Recently there has been a recession of tournaments hosted by the community, also due to the fact that there was a recession of players in 2013 until the summer of 2014. However it seems that Populous: The Beginning is, once again, getting higher standards and new tournament ideas start being exploited.

We are sure that 2015 will not be a year to forget and that the community is now escalating to the best of times. New players are joining in and attempting the online experience, while the rise in players looking for games using the MatchMaker client is noticeable. Players like Addiction and Fury have stepped in once again and do not forget they are not the only ones.

We now leave you with a quote to think about for the year 2015, by Leah LaBelle:
“Work hard for what you want because it won’t come to you without a fight. You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive.“
